Competency By Design (CBD) is a new training and assessment strategy developed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The initial phase of CBD was implemented in July 2017 for Anesthesia and Otolaryngology programs across Canada. Other training programs will move to CBD over time, with the intent that all training programs in Canada be using this new system within five years. The VENTIS team has worked very closely with Dr. Robert Brown and the University of Manitoba FPGME team over the last 12 months to implement the tools required to manage CBD training schedules and related assessments directly into VENTIS.
